Guitar

Learning about the guitar fills me up with enthusiasm. Mostly for the thrill I get of playing a riff or a really cool music piece and saying “I just did that?!?!” It makes me feel like I did something that I thought I couldn’t do before; as if I overcame on obstacle. Personally, that’s one of the most enjoying thing about my life; feeling that I did something despite the doubt that other people give me. That’s how I got interested in the guitar. For me, it was just another instrument when I started out; just something cool to learn in school. But after I was enlightened by how versatile it was, I just kept wanting to learn more. There’s just ssssoooooooo MUCH you can do on a guitar. Some people don’t realize this probably because they don’t have the same enthusiasm I have for the guitar. (they just have a interest in something else.)
Okay, so Mrs. Siesmore wants to know what I am doing to “learn more about guitar.” (so I’ll tell you) I currently take guitar lessons at Southeast with Mr. Downs. Through him I have joined a guitar quartet that meets up after school every Monday. In the quartet, we practice music to play at “gigs” which we get from time to time. We (quartet) play in local places in Bradenton like Village of the Arts, and Palmetto; some times for free, but what we don’t get in funds, we get in advertisement. In other words, “we may not get money, but at least people know we exist.” Also, every summer there is a guitar camp at the University of Miami where I go to learn a tidbit from the best. By the “Best” I mean Dr. Rene Gonzalez, a professor at the UM. He is a really good teacher that has help me a lot in how I can express my self correctly through the guitar.
To sum up my thoughts, since I LOVE music, and the guitar happens to be an instrument that can express music in many way; I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can about the guitar so I can say “hey, I don’t just play the guitar as a instrument, I use it for its true purpose; A tool used to express our feelings.”
